The beauty of these collectibles is that they are rare, they look neat, and they are worth nothing.
Conn 82h Trombone
This unusual specimen of trombone dates to 1924. Most trombones have a tuning slide and counterweight in the bell section. This has neither; the designers put the tuning mechanism in the slide itself, with a little screw and threaded rod to keep it aligned properly. This model, the New York Symphony, was only made from 1924-1927 (and only in 1924 with this particular layout) and has a .522 bore, relatively large for that period. Recently there has been renewed interest among boutique trombone makers in making this design.
I play this beautiful sounding trombone on my new record, to be released this fall on Yestereve Records.
